Looking back at the 2025 Medenrunde

Excitement until the very last rally

The 2025 Medenrunde season has come to an end – and it was quite an event! Right up to the last match day, exciting encounters, strong team performances and a few surprises provided enthusiasm both on and off the field.
The highlight this year was our He50 team, who, with great fighting spirit and composure, achieved promotion to the A-League. In a truly nail-biting final, they prevailed against the favorites from Bad Bodendorf thanks to a better match record – narrowly, but ultimately absolutely deserved!
The He65 team also had a close call. With an impressive 10:2 points, Norbert Bell's team narrowly missed promotion to the Oberliga – a strong performance that whets the appetite for more.

The season unfolded unexpectedly for our Men's 60 team: As newcomers to the Oberliga, they narrowly missed out on staying in the league with a record of 6 wins and 8 losses, only missing out on promotion due to a slightly worse match ratio. A respectable achievement that bodes well for the upcoming season!
Our He40 team finished in the middle of the table, while the Da40 team unfortunately missed out on staying in the league after their promotion last year – that's part of the sport, and we're looking ahead.
Team captain Hans-Dieter Hanitzsch and his teammates He70 were also satisfied - with three draws and two narrow defeats, the season goal was achieved.

Conclusion and Outlook
The 2025 Medenrunde (league matches) once again demonstrated how close the competition is in tennis – both at the top and at the bottom of the table. Tension right down to the last point, team spirit, and sporting ambition characterized the events.
A huge thank you to all players, coaches, fans and supporters – you are the backbone of our club! Together we look forward to the next season with motivation and are already excited about new sporting challenges.

In his debut in the 70+ age group, Thomas Wolff (center) surprisingly prevailed in the group stage of a small but highly competitive field, losing only one set against all the top-seeded favorites and multiple Rhineland-Palatinate champions such as Horst Kelling (left) and Günther Rausch. He now knows he is on par with the best in Rhineland-Palatinate.
